On the afternoon of Friday May 23rd, Peter was taking surfing lessons at Waikiki Beach on a family vacation. He began to experience severe back pain and it became bad enough that an ambulance was called. He was taken to Queens Hospital in Honolulu.
While in intensive care Peter was diagnosed with Surfer's Myelopathy. It is a condition caused by the spinal cord being deprived the sufficient blood supply while surfing due to hyper-flexing the back and the constant looking back for waves. The injury causes paralysis below the waist. Recovery is as unique as the individual. Reports available from the internet indicate 80% of those afflicted with this malady achieve a complete recovery.
Peter has moved from intensive care to a regular hospital room. He has physical therapy daily. On June 3rd he is headed to the Craig Rehab hospital in Denver. While there he will receive grueling physical therapy for 45 to 60 days.
Peter has enjoyed the calls and text messages from his friends. He also has pages on Facebook and MySpace. He needs your support in the form of those text messages, phone calls and comments on Facebook/MySpace.
Please keep the Jesse family in your prayers. Peter will need your support for a complete recovery.
TYHA is honored to announce that defenseman Blake Barnes and forward Ryan McMurphy were selected to represent the Rocky Mountain District at USA Hockey's National Select 14 (1994 birth year) Player Development Camp to be held in Rochester, New York, July 12th through July 18th.
This past weekend, over 100 top players (1994 birth year) from Arizona, Colorado, Idaho, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Texas, and Utah converged upon the Olympic Oval in Salt Lake City, Utah. All competitors with the same dream, goal, and mission; advance to the next level, National competition in New York. With the limited number of roster spots available, this is truly an amazing accomplishment for Blake and Ryan!
We are all very proud of these young men and we want to recognize their efforts and dedication to this great sport. Additionally, and most important, is that these are two of the finest boys and students you will meet.
Congratulations Blake Barnes and Ryan McMurphy, good luck in New York!!!
Ryan McMurphy attends school in Broken Arrow and Blake Barnes is a former Broken Arrow student who now attends Union.

Senior forward Matt Cooper (#99) evened the game once again (5-5) with a short handed goal. Cooper and Rowland broke the puck out of the defensive zone and raced into the Comets zone. Rowland stayed on the right side boards, pulling both Comet defensemen towards him. A perfect pass to Cooper, who put the puck over the goalie's leg pads and just out of glove reach from the backside. The Comets retook the lead with a minute left in the second period. The period ended with the Comets leading 6-5. Once again the Tigers had the edge in shots, 13-11.
